From personal experience we now know how though it can be, being released, sent to Kurzarbeit or starting to doubt the safety of your position. From our network we experience that the market is slowly getting back on track, but the Kurzarbeit has just been extended to the end of 2021. Sounds dark and frightening? Well there is hope.

In every crisis there is also a chance for change, in Germany we gave this opportunity a name with 28 letters: Qualifizierungschancengesetz.
This law, passed by the end of 2018, allows employees, companies and those who require more digital knowledge alike to apply for federal funding and support. Not only can the full fees for classes be covered, there is also an option that your salary will be subsidized plus you can get additional support for child care and transportation.

This sounds amazing? There is more to come. Starting October, this law targets especially those of you who are put into Kurzarbeit, threatened to lose their job due to absence of digital skills or a degree.
